Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media project
Name: James Brean
Audience: Male aged 16-25
Age: 16
Nationallity: White man
Intrests: Music Influenced activities such as Playing the drums, attending concerts and producing his own music. Going out with friends. Going to the cinema.
James is a typical 16 year old lad. He likes to go out, which usually consits of watching a film at the cinema with a group of friends. He is the typical age range for a horror film. He often likes to go out and watch a horror film. The pictures show he is an outgoing and fun teenager.
I am aiming my project at this age range for the social reason that groups of teenager friends often go to the cinema to watch a horror film. With horror films being what they are today such as "Saw" and "Hostel" more people are going to the cinema for the shock factor, and my film has that.
Age: 18
Nationallity: White Woman
Intrests: Going out with friends, Music, Artwork.
The reason I chose Elle to represnt my typical female target audience is because she too fits into the age range and the criteria of my target audience. Elle also likes to go to the cinema with her friends to watch horror films for the shock effect. The pictures show that Elle dresses up to go out so it could suggest going to the cinema is only part of her night. They do also show that she is a young girl.
The film will most probably have a different effect on Elle then it would James. James would see the shocking side of it, but as it is a male torturing a female he might see a stereotypical manly funny side to it. Elle however will be totally horrified that a man could do such torture to a women.
When I asked Elle and James "what are the two things you spend the most of your money on?" I got the answer Beer and DVDS from James, and Loreal Shampoo and DVDS from Elle. By gathering this information I can now suggest my films to advertisers for these things, such as Stella Artois Beer, Loreal Paris and DVD rental companies such as Love Film or Blockbusters. I believe these advertisers would want to advertise for my fim because of my research showing what Males and females watching this film buy, and also because even the other audiences that I have not targetted that might see my film could be intrested in these products. beer DVDS and shampoo can appeal to everyone.
I also belive big companies such as Tesco and Asda might be intrigued to advertising for my film. They will see what my audiences buy, therefore see this as an oppurtunity to show these products being on sale in their store, or alternative products that might encourage viewers to try them out too.
I believe my target audience will want to see other horror films of the slasher sub genre. Groups of teenagers enjoy going to the cinema together to watch horror films to be shocked and scared. The feeling is sensational for them, you do not get that feeling in a feel good comedy. You can also see good comedy on television, but to feel the full effect of horror films, they are best watched in the cinema with your friends.
At home I do belive they watch comedy programms such as Live at the Apollo and mock the week. My main target audience, being male aged 16-25, enjoy watching shows with commedians talking baout common situations. They enjoy watching this late at night when they can easily access the programmes on channels such as "Dave" and "Comedy Central"

Question 3: What Kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think the company that would distribute my movie is Lionsgate Entertainment. I think this because they have distributed many films that can relate to my film. I defiantly think that the interest would be there. I could have gone ahead and said a big company like 20th Century fox or DreamWorks but they do not make as many films like mine. Lionsgate have made the Saw Franchise, See No Evil, Irreversible and the Hostel Franchise. My film relates to these films as it is too a splatter/slasher Horror. The twisted storyline would fit into a traditional Lionsgate movie.
I believe Twisted Pictures would be the producers for my film. They produce a lot of Lionsgate Horror films, such as the Saw Franchise. With my film based around torture I Believe it has a similar story to the Saw films. Twisted Pictures will see the success of them and may look into producing my film aswell.
